Ethical standards
Etičke norme časopisa Business Studies on publishing and plagiarism include codes and principles of conduct for all authors and other participants in this process.
The journal Business Studies strictly adheres to international standards
The Journal of Business Studies adheres to the ethical norms for scientific publications adopted by the Committee for Ethics in Publishing Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE). We encourage the best standards of publication ethics and take all possible measures against any form of fraud and plagiarism. As a publisher, the University of Business Studies undertakes its duty to preserve works in all stages and to recognize ethical and other responsibilities.
Editor's duty and responsibility
In addition to general tasks, such as improving the quality and integrity of the journal, encouraging authors, readers and debate, the editors accept the obligation through their free will to apply the following competencies:
Editorial board
The editorial board will be generated from recognized experts who have a degree in the scientific field covered by the journal. The editor will provide members' full name and contact information on the journal's website.
Publication decisions
The editor should be responsible for which of the papers submitted to the journal will be published in the journal. Validation of the subject paper and its significance for researchers and readers influence the decision. An editor may be governed by the rules of the journal's editorial board and limited by legal requirements, copyright infringement, and plagiarism. The editor can consult the deputy editor, co-editor or another editor (depending on the wording) to consider the manuscripts, when making a decision. The editor can meet with other members of the editorial board or reviewers when making a decision. Editors have a responsibility to protect the anonymity of reviewers and/or authors according to the highest academic standards.
Review process
All papers are reviewed in a double anonymous review process that includes external and internal review. Reviewers are obliged to point out a possible violation of ethical norms in the work. Papers are first reviewed by the editors. The editor can reject the paper because it does not study the topic of the journal or because it is of poor quality and cannot be considered. Papers deemed suitable for review are sent to reviewers. Reviewers must have a higher or the same scientific title as the author. Reviewers must not be from the same institution as the author. Since each paper has two reviewers, they are not known to each other. One of the reviewers must be external. Before making a final decision on the paper, the reviewers can indicate changes and improvements before publication, if it is for the purpose of improving the quality of the journal. If the reviews do not agree, the review board or the editorial board decide on the scientific classification of the work, taking into account the seniority of the reviewers. If the reviewers have the same profession, it is decided in favor of the author. If the reviewers indicate possible violations of ethical standards in the paper, the paper is rejected. In order to improve the quality of the magazine, the editor and members of the editorial board can ask for improvement of the work until the moment of publication.
Editors must justify any deviation from the described process. Editors should not overlap publication decisions, unless serious problems are identified.
Editors should publish guidelines for authors and reviewers on what is expected of them. This instruction should be updated regularly.
Non-discrimination
The editor should evaluate manuscripts for intellectual content without regard to the author's race, gender, sexual orientation, religious belief, ethnic origin, citizenship, or political philosophy. The editor's decision to accept or reject a paper for publication should be based only on the importance of originality and clarity of the paper, as well as on the relevance of the study to the goal of the journal.
Digital archiving
The editor will ensure digital preservation of access to the magazine's content by the National and University Library of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the National and University Library of the Republic of Srpska. The journal is published once a year and is registered in the bibliographic database Online Public Access Catalog (OPAC).
Disclosure and conflict of interest
Unpublished materials included in the manuscript by the author may not be used for the editor's own purposes without the express consent of the author. Privileged information or ideas must not be used for personal advantage. Whoever determines the editor's unethical behavior should provide enough information and evidence to the publisher to initiate an investigation. All allegations should be taken seriously and treated.
Author's responsibility
The first author confirms in a written statement that the work is the author's work. Authors must confirm that their work has not been previously published in any other publication. Authors must confirm that their work is not being considered for publication elsewhere. Authors are required to list all literary sources used in writing the work.
The journal does not charge a fee for publishing papers, nor for reading and downloading them.
The authors guarantee that the rights of third parties will not be violated and that the publisher will not be held legally responsible if there is any claim for damages. Authors are solely responsible for the content of their submissions, the validity of the experimental results, and must ensure that they have permission from all parties involved to publicly release the data. Authors who wish to include figures or text already published elsewhere must obtain permission from the copyright holder and include evidence that such permission has been granted when submitting their papers. Any manuscript obtained without such evidence is assumed to originate from the author.
Authors must ensure that all authors who contributed significantly to the manuscript submission are listed as authors. It is the responsibility of each author to ensure that the papers submitted to the Journal of Business Studies are written in accordance with ethical norms and that they do not contain plagiarism. The authors confirm that the work does not contain unfounded or illegal statements and does not violate the rights of others.
Kada autor otkrije značajnu grešku ili nepreciznost u svom sopstvenom objavljenom radu, obaveza autora je da odmah obavijesti urednika ili izdavača časopisa i sarađuje sa urednikom da se povuče ili ispravi.
